That's on purpose so even a primate could tell an elementalist it's an elementalist just by looking at them.

I think some people may not be familiar with modeling and what reskinning may be referring to here. In the case of the ritualist, think of the two armor sets as being the same exact color. They share the same model (on top of the body model, unlike NPCs which are all a single model). In other words, don't look at the colors as the difference, that's in fact the reskinning of the model. Look at the shape of the armor. For example, Warrior Luxon armor is shaped completely different from the Warrior Plate armor, regardless of what kind of texture it has. The two rits shown above merely have different textures but it looks as though no modeling work was done (necklaces and such are textures which colors in them to make them look transparent at different places).

Looking at the models, there don't look to be any differences whatsoever, well at least none significant that I can tell which would not be accounted to transparency of the overlying texture. I think anyone saying they are greatly different is not completely clear on the difference between textures (the skins) and the models themselves.

Take Spazzer's image as a good example. Just outline the armors since those are the differences you are looking for. Yeah Prophecies did that somewhat as well with some of the armors as well.

EDIT: Btw, my example also brings back to light one of the reasons ANet gave for not making some of the nice NPC armor sets available to players. I recal them mentioning that for NPCs, since most of them don't change armour/clothes, they modeled the armor onto the body as one piece, so it couldn't really be removed like our armor sets.

When I saw the reskinsEotN armor pics on Photobucket before it was out, I completely assumed that they were just test armors er somethin. I was really stunned when I found out they were the real thing.

The worst part is how they spent so much time talking about and focusing on the dungeons - then those ended up being reskins too. For me, EotN's replay value was really short because of this.

I remember Gaile saying somewhere that they all looked like each because they are all Tyria-themed, like the ones from the first game. Of course that wouldn't explain why sin, par, rit and derv look like each other

I agree, however, I don't know if they're really "new". They just seem to be less noticeable than others.

These are all in my opinion:

Warrior Norn = Looks like helmet is from elite sunspear armor. Armor looks like it has some pieces from Vabbian and elite Canthan, with the "furry" look of elite charr hide armor.
Ranger Norn = I really like this armor, it seems plenty new. It just takes the concept of a ranger having "robe-like" armor though.
Monk Norn = Looks new, however, if you take away the very furry appearance, it would look like other non tattoo monk armors.
Necromancer Norn = Looks like Necrotic and Canthan.
Mesmer Norn = Female seems like a lot of the other armor, with the long coat. Male just seems like other armor, with a longer blazer, and a larger collar.
Elementalist Norn = I feel like it is a mix between elite Canthan and Primeval (minus the weird wire stuff).
Assassin Norn = I think it slightly resembles elite Imperial armor.
Ritualist Norn = I love this armor, I think it is original.
Paragon Norn = I think this armor is pretty unique, as the female chest armor does not look just like a bra, and the male chest armor doesn't have an imprint of abs, and the boots seem like they're longer than others.
Dervish Norn = I think this armor is unique, and much more detailed than other dervish armor.

Remember! These are just my opinions.

Or why Saitung Rit = Asuran Rit.

Oh, hey, we got bored while making armors for EOTN, so we just changed the decorations and dangly bits on the current armors.

Silver Eagle - obviously, just warrior
And, obviously, all the special headgear and gloves.

But, please, don't let me stop you from QQ-ing about how "all eotn armor is reskinned".
While I don't mind it as much as some people (some of the reskins are actually good armours, and I like having an elite Seitung...):

Asuran: Typically, full reskins of existing sets:
Monk: Saintly
Mesmer: Female is Courtly. Male I can't identify; could be new.
Ele: Male is Iceforged. Female has new skirt at least
Rit: Seitung.
Para: Possibly based off Elonian, but some differences
Dervish: New skirt, but otherwise Elonian

Monument: In general, composites of individually reskinned pieces - the Warrior is especially obvious. (bleagh)
Ranger: The longcoat shows the same general cut as the Ancient for the female and the Krytan for the male, although some minor changes may have been made. Other pieces I can't be bothered going to the effort of identifying.
Monk: If it is based on something, different enough that I can't pick it.
Necromancer: Krytan torso, Cultist leggings
Mesmer: Female is Rogue top and FoW skirt. Male is Canthan or Shing Jea top.
Ele: Female is Krytan torso with Kurzick skirt.
Assassin: Female is Seitung top and Canthan leggings. Male is harder to pick, but could be a Kurzick torso.
Rit: Luxon torso, FoW leggings
Paragon: Skirts similar to Elite Sunspear without pointy bits, but otherwise different enough.
Dervish: New skirt, but otherwise Primeval

Norn: New - some known to come from Utopia concepts.

Like you, I'm not going to go through Deldrimnor in detail except to say that most of their class-specific pieces are derived from older pieces.
